Here’s an opinion that will no doubt annoy many people who have been common-tating about the attempted assassination of President Trump.
A female Secret Service Agent muzzling the crowd and having difficulty re-holstering has exactly zero relationship to the fact that an attempted assassination took place. Sorry folks, a low level field agent’s lack of competence in non-shooting tasks with her issue weapon has nothing to do with the planning and execution failures that took place prior to the shots being fired.
The investigation into the attempt need to focus at a much higher level; all the way up to the head of the Secret Service, her immediate subordinates, and the Supervisory Agents who were responsible for planning the protection of the President. If the planning and execution had been done right, the female Agent in question would never have needed to draw her pistol and none of us would have been the wiser.
Focusing on DEI at the USSS will only distract from much larger issues. Simply the fact that her issue holster is so obviously inappropriate for female agents in the field is an example of bureaucratic incompetence and the allowance of POlice cosplay during training.
Whether this whistleblower’s comments are addressed, one way or another, in the upcoming hearings will be of much more importance than the USSS hiring practices. This EP operation was planned by people who were hired long before Cheatle became Director.

The VAST majority of security at any presidential (or former presidential) event are always LE brought in. Local police, HWP, special agents from tons of agencies (IRS, Customs/Homeland, etc.) make up the biggest part of the detail, but the USSS directs it all. They sterilize and check the environment, organize the overlapping perimeters of security, etc. Someone screwed up—it sure sounds like USSS was INSIDE the building(s) he was on. I don’t blame DEI but the people who are didn’t make sure everyone was doing their job (and those who weren’t doing it, if so tasked).
The kid looks to be a school-shooter type looking for fame/notoriety, and not in any way political…but everyone wants a quick scapegoat, so it’s either “antifa” or “DEI women” or “staged”, etc. I’m sure we’ll learn more about the failures eventually.
I find the most disturbing aspect to be the prioritizing of how to manage scarce resources. If in fact advance requests for resources were denied the agents were in a no win situation. It is not uncommon for middle managers to be tasked with challenges and not have sufficient means to accomplish the mission. When all goes well the senior management takes the praise and promotions. When the mission fails the senior management often faults those on the front line. This is a frequent and disgraceful practice. Many slang terms are used to describe the fate of the brave people that suffer these events. “Fall guy”, “hung out to dry”, and “under the bus” come to mind. Hereafter considering the enormity of this failure I submit for consideration the term “Mayorked” to be appropriate, but “Cheatled” is more clear and easier to remember. Have you ever been Cheatled?
Why was a “low level” agent assigned to a former presidential’s detail?
